About the School

Mission

Virginia Tech’s School of Education is dedicated to enriching the lives of PK-12 children and youth, families, and communities through inquiry, leadership, and advocacy. We fulfill this mission with the preparation of educational professionals, applied research, and high impact outreach. Our mission clearly situates our work within the university’s motto: “Ut Prosim – That I may serve.”

  • The National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE): Accredited since 1973
  • Approval by the Virginia Department of Education of all professional education programs
  • Degrees offered: Masters, Educational Specialist, Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
  • Graduate Assistantships: 67 + Grants
  • Total 06-07 Enrollment: 1100+
