Welcome to Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program at Virginia Tech!


The program is designed to prepare individuals for careers in CTE and to enhance the professional development of CTE educators.  CTE at Virginia Tech offers degrees at three different levels.  Students can earn a master of science degree (M.S.), an education specialist degree (Ed.S.), or a doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.).

Within each of the CTE degrees, students may choose to specialize in one or more of the following areas or to pursue general CTE studies:

  • Agricultural Education
  • Business and Information Technology
  • Family and Consumer Sciences
  • Marketing Education
  • Health and Medical Sciences
  • Trade and Industrial Education

CTE Teaching Licensure 

You can earn a teaching license in one or more of the CTE areas while completing a master's degree.
