Program Locations and Cohorts

We offer our degree programs at the Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Center (in Virginia Beach), Northern Virginia Center (in Falls Church), Richmond Center, Roanoke Center, and Southwest Virginia Center (in Abingdon), as well as several other graduate extension centers throughout the state.

Both the Principal Preparation Program and doctoral program are conducted in regional cohorts of approximately 15 students each. Most Principal Preparation cohorts rotate on a two-year basis; doctoral cohorts on a three-year basis. Members of a given cohort attend all of the same classes and pursue common plans of study.

Please see below for a schedule of upcoming cohorts. The application period for any given cohort begins in spring (January/February) of the starting year and extends into early summer. Classes begin in fall (August) of the starting year. If you’ve missed a cohort start date, please still feel free to inquire: the program can sometimes accept new students into an ongoing cohort.
