English Education

The English Education program offers:

  1. A graduate licensure program in which students earn a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with a postgraduate professional license for English (grades 6-12).
  2. Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction for practicing/inservice teachers
  3. PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English Education

The English Education programs at Virginia Tech meld traditional issues of teaching writing, language and literature with newly emerging practices and research in adolescent literacy, new literacies, multimodal technologies and teaching and learning in 21st century classrooms.


Congratulations to Virginia Tech's English Education Program for winning the School/University Partnership Award of 2012 from the Association of Teacher Educators in Virginia. English teacher candidates collaborated with students at Fredericksburg Academy to earn this recognition.
