The Virginia Tech Instructional Design and Technology program offers the following professional development opportunities:
Certificates and workshops
Certificates and workshops are offered through the Center for Instructional Technology Solutions in Industry and Education (CITSIE).
Master of Arts (M.A.) degree
The IDT program offers the masters degree either at a distance through the Instructional Technology Masters (ITMA) program or through a classic on campus approach.
Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree
The Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree is a post-master's program for professionals who seek advanced preparation to broaden their understanding of complex professional issues, strengthen their ability to conduct systematic inquiry on their practice, and provide leadership for their institutions.
Doctoral (either Ed.D. or Ph.D.) degree
Instructional Technology awards two different doctoral degrees: the Ed.D and Ph. D. They differ in the number of credit hours required and the residency requirements.
