June 3, 2015 –  

Ken Nicely, director of secondary instruction for Roanoke County Public Schools, Virginia, has been elected to serve as a regional trustee on the Board of Trustees for the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE). Nicely served 10 years as principal and assistant principal at Hidden Valley Middle School, leading the school in 2009 to become the first middle school in western Virginia to be recognized by the national Schools to Watch program for middle grades. Earning his doctorate from the Virginia Tech Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in 2012, Nicely has presented at middle school conferences in Virginia and Tennessee and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Middle School Association.
