2010 Excellence in Education Awards
Call for Nominations!
Dear Colleague:
The Virginia Tech School of Education is once again pleased to honor exemplary public school and community college programs across the Commonwealth with our Excellence in Education Awards. An outstanding program, in each of the Superintendents’ regions and one Virginia community college program will be celebrated at the annual School of Education’s Awards Reception. At this time I invite you to submit nominations for programs you feel contribute to excellence in education in your school, school division, or community college.
Nominations may represent the entire range of services or practices (e.g., instructional programs, student services, career education, staff development, retention programs, etc.). We are looking for programs that are innovative, creative, effective, unique, replicable, are of significant importance to the student community, and demonstrate a positive cost-benefit relationship.
The announcement of award and certificate winners will be made by the end of March. Award winners will receive plaques and a monetary award for the future support of the exemplary program. Descriptions of award winners' programs will be placed on the Excellence in Education web site and the newspapers in the winners' area will be notified. The awardees will be invited to attend the awards reception at the Blacksburg campus.
Attached is a copy of the nomination form that must be used to submit programs for consideration for the 2010 Virginia Tech School of Education Excellence in Education Awards. The nominations must be postmarked no later than November 13, 2009. Please duplicate the form and distribute it to those who may be interested in participating. If you have any questions, please call Nancy Bradley at (540) 231-0969.
Sincerely,
Susan G. Magliaro, Ed.D.
