Teaching Fellows
Summer Academies at UVA
The Teaching Fellows program is designed to provide a fully immersive experience for a cohort of teachers each summer at the University of Virginia. Teachers will engage in a graduate level seminar for an in-depth study of content using digital archives of primary resources as the framework for investigation and research. The Teaching Fellows will pose historical questions, conduct authentic research that leads to scholarship, and create a digital project that combines content knowledge, research and scholarship. During the subsequent year, the Teaching Fellows will create digital scholarship that introduces the content and resources of their work to students, peers and colleagues.
Graduate Level History Course through VT
In addition teachers may also take graduate level history courses during the academic year. These history course offerings will be taken at the Roanoke Higher Education Center and offered through Virginia Tech.
Applying for Graduate Level Courses
Each semester a call will go out for teachers interested in applying for a graduate level history course. Announcements will be made at the monthly seminars and an email call will be set out by the History and Social Science supervisors of the participating school districts. Deadlines for applications will be established.Teachers interested in applying for history graduate level courses to be taken at the Roanoke Higher Education Center through Virgninia Tech will need to complete and turn in the following
1) a VT Grad School Application
Complete fully.
Under Specify degree- please check Commonwealth Campus
Under Specify Campus desired- please check Roanoke
Major desired is History
GRE's not required
2) Reduced Tuition Reimbursement Form.
Please note you will need a school official to sign your Reduced Tuition Reimbursement form.
3) Evidence of proof of undergraduate degree- copies of transcript or degree are acceptable
Completed forms along with proof of undergraduate degree must be turned into Mr. David Blevins -Project Coordinator by the deadline. Please indicate if you have had a change in surname and the name on your transcripts are different from the application forms.
Cost of application is covered through the grant. |
