Mission Statement

In keeping with the mission of Virginia Tech, the Educational Leadership Program serves the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation, and the world by preparing educational leaders, conducting educational policy research, and engaging teachers and administrators to improve education for all children.

Through our certificate, masters/specialist, and doctoral programs, we develop the skills of students ready to take on the challenges of educational leadership. Many of our graduates go on to work as local, state, national, or international educational administrators; university faculty; or educational researchers.

In November 2015, the Virginia Tech Educational Leadership Program was accepted as a full member of the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA). Established in 1954, the UCEA is a consortium of higher education institutions committed to advancing the preparation and practice of educational leaders for the benefit of schools and children.
