Welcome to Special Education at Virginia Tech

The Special Education Program in Teaching and Learning does not currently offer degrees specifically in Special Education.

At the Master’s level, all students in the teacher licensure programs that are offered are required to take courses that will prepare them for meeting the needs of Special Education students in their classrooms, and encouraged to take additional optional courses.

At the EdS and Doctoral level, the Special Education faculty collaborate with faculty in the other specialty areas to offer the Curriculum and Instruction degree. Thus, students who want to focus their research on Special Education issues can have their major advisor in any of the Teaching and Learning fields, and ask the Special Education faculty members to serve on their committee to provide the direction and support for the area of interest within Special Education.

Please contact program faculty listed below if additional information would be helpful.
